Trancoso is one of the best conserved villages, despite being situated 40 km far from Porto Seguro or 35 km of Arraial d'Ajuda, has definitively a special charme and character. It's part of a trio of small villages, to which belongs also Espelho of Coruipe and Caraivas. Preservation, simplicity and sophistication are the main features of Trancoso. Nothing better that to see it yourself to appreciate the diference.

Trancoso lies between Porto Seguro & Arraial d’Ajuda, & in close proximity to the villages of Espelho de Coruipe & Caraivas. Steeped in history and originally a thriving fishing community discovered by the Portuguese in 1586, the village until recently consisted of only 62 dwellings with the majority constructed with traditional straw roofs. Initially populated by a Jesuit community the village has lost nothing of it`s overwhelming charm, with today`s “ Quadrado Historico” as the village`s vibrant hub. Fine white sandy beaches are still as the Portuguese sailors found them with the addition of a handful of secluded beach bars and restaurants which together make the Costa do Descubrimento ( cost of discovery ) an unforgettable location.
